11th KING'S INTERNATIONAL SUMMIT

on Modern Surgical Reconstruction and

Multidisciplinary Care of The Diabetic Foot

Breaking the Chains of the Diabetes Amputation Crisis

14th & 15th October 2025
Kings Place, London

Welcome

It is a pleasure to welcome you to the 11th King’s International Summit on Modern Surgical Reconstruction and Multidisciplinary Care of the Diabetic Foot, to be held on the 14th and 15th of October 2025  at King’s Place. London.

The diabetic foot remains a major global public health challenge, with an increasing number of major amputations. Our meeting aims to help break the chain of amputations by bringing together  the multidisciplinary diabetic foot team to share advances in surgical orthopaedic, vascular, and plastic surgery reconstruction and also  advances in multidisciplinary  diabetic foot care, including  the treatment of infection.

Sessions will describe innovations in complex midfoot and hindfoot Charcot foot reconstruction, below-the-knee and below-the-ankle revascularization, including open surgical bypass procedures performed under local anaesthetic and also discuss advanced plastic surgical construction techniques. The meeting will discuss the remarkable progress in the three great reconstruction operative disciplines of  orthopaedic, vascular, and plastic surgery, and how these specialties complement and support each other.

Furthermore, the meeting will describe advances in modern podiatric care with  workshops on imaging and offloading, including total contact casting. There will be lectures on advances in medical and modern diabetes care and also the latest developments in treating diabetic foot infection, including local antibiotic therapy.  Discussions will equip all healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills to intervene effectively and halt the progression to major amputation.

With an expected attendance of over 200 participants from around the world, this two-day event will include lectures, workshops, free paper presentations, and dedicated parallel sessions on vascular,  orthopaedic and plastic surgery as well as podiatry Our expert international faculty will share personal experiences, insights from current literature, and innovative techniques for managing diabetic foot conditions. Previous meetings were awarded 12 CPD points by the Royal College of Surgeons, and we anticipate similar accreditation this year.

In England, a postcode lottery has created nearly a fivefold difference in major amputation rates, with socioeconomically deprived areas being the hardest hit. However, amputations are not inevitable - they are preventable. By increasing understanding of the sequence of events leading to amputation and enhancing intervention skills, we can work together to reduce the number of major amputations.

If you are a surgeon, diabetologist, podiatrist, nurse, microbiologist,  interventional radiologist, orthotist or psychologist with an interest in multidisciplinary diabetic foot care and are committed to driving real change, this meeting is an essential step in the fight against major amputations. Let us come together to make a difference.

We look forward to seeing you at the summit.

Kind regards,

Venu Kavarthapu
